Romantic Engagement Photoshoot at James Monroe Highland

Julia met Aaron during his very first week in Charlottesville. Aaron had just joined the full-time ministry staff at Portico Church here in Charlottesville as their director of student ministries, and Julia just happened to be volunteering at the very first event that Aaron was running – a hangout for UVA students at a local coffee shop. They caught each other’s eyes, began to bond over Julia’s taste in music (Aaron literally asked her if she had somehow found his Spotify playlist) and the rest – as they say – is history.
When Sarah and I took Julia and Aaron to James Monroe Highland for their engagement session, they were at what seemed like a completely different stage in their journey. Although that fateful first encounter was less than a year ago, when we finally got Julia and Aaron in front of our cameras, they were less than 36 hours from moving more than 1,000 miles away. In an unexpected turn of events, after they began dating, Julia and Aaron felt the Lord calling them back to Aaron’s long-time home of Minneapolis, where they’ll spend their last few months of engagement. The trust that these two have displayed in God – and in each other – as they’ve walked through this decision is something that Sarah and I have admired in them these last few months.

We have loved watching you two get to know each other, begin dating and now celebrate your engagement! Though we’re sad to see you leave Charlottesville, we’re confident that the Lord has even better things for you in Minnesota! We know we’ll see you in the months before your wedding as you make trips back to Virginia to plan, and who knows – maybe we’ll even find ourselves in Minnesota someday! But until then, we pray that these photos make the move even a little bit easier on you 🙂
