Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
We could not believe our eyes. It was our first day in San Diego, and we had spent most of the day exploring the city when we finally ventured over to Balboa Park, the site of our San Diego engagement session the following afternoon. Now when we say “park” you probably think, like we did, that it would be a small green space carved out of the busy city. Maybe there’d be a few swing sets and a basketball court, and definitely a few picnic benches. That’s what parks are like in Charlottesville anyway. But apparently, they do things a bit differently out in California! This “park” is almost two square miles and houses over a dozen gardens, almost 15 museums, not to mention the San Diego Zoo! So to say we were overwhelmed when we first entered the park would have been an understatement. We spent the better part of two hours exploring the park, planning for Sarah and Tim’s session the following day. There were so many beautiful spaces, but we finally narrowed it down to a few of our favorites that also boasted favorable lighting conditions for a late afternoon photoshoot.
When Sarah and Tim arrived on Saturday, we got right to work (of course, after exchanging a few hugs and a catching up a bit). We whisked them around the park from the Casa Del Prado to the Spanish Village Art Center and even a brief stop at the colonnades on the Casa Del Balboa. However, just after they changed into their second outfit, it was time to keep moving – this time to nearby Coronado Beach! We continued their session with palm trees at our backs and dancing in the ocean at sunset. When it became apparent that we weren’t going to be able to get the shots we needed from where we were standing on the sand, Sarah and I kicked off our shoes and jumped right in the water with them! We were so excited to be shooting our first California engagement session that we probably would’ve gone head-first into the freezing pacific if it meant getting the right shot for them!
We had such a blast finally getting to know you two during our time in San Diego this weekend. As if your engagement session hadn’t been fun enough, dinner afterwards was just as much of an adventure! We love that, like Tim said at the end of dinner, when we show up to your getting ready rooms on June 30th, we won’t just be “the photographers”, but “Hunter and Sarah”! We absolutely cannot wait for your wedding, and hope that the rest of your engagement will be as fun and exciting as the last 11 months have been!
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
