Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Hunter and I take our physical and emotional health pretty seriously. So after we booked our 20th wedding for this year, we made the decision that whenever it was even remotely possible, we would take Sunday off after a full-day Saturday wedding. And especially after a 13-hour long wedding day like we captured on Saturday, that rest time is crucial. However, when Brittany and Eric reached out to us last month to book their engagement session, but told us their only available date was Sunday the 19th of May, Hunter and I talked it over. In the end, we decided that with a Holiday weekend coming up, we’d rather give up that lazy Sunday for the opportunity to serve them during this oh-so-exciting time in their lives. Plus, between this past Saturday’s wedding and Memorial Day next Monday, we only have four engagement sessions and another wedding! No problem right?! (insert mildly-panicked laughter here).
But in all seriousness, busy schedule or not, we are so glad we had the opportunity to work with Brittany and Eric yesterday evening! As natives to the Detroit area and Baltimore (respectively) who met each other during college just outside New York City, their recent move to small-town Lexington, Virginia has been a big adjustment for them both. They were almost entirely unfamiliar with the central Virginia area, so we know that our location suggestions and our Portrait Session Style Guide took a lot of the pressure off of them. With Eric (a college football coach) traveling most weekends for football camps and Brittany planning their Michigan wedding from 600 miles away, we know that any stress taken off of them is probably a huge relief!
We had such a blast getting to know you two at James Monroe’s Highland yesterday evening. You were so much fun to shoot with (and joke around with), and we loved hearing about the story of Eric’s fake-winning-a-raffle-in-front-of-hundreds-of-people proposal story! We pray that these engagement photos are a blessing to you two as you spend the summer traveling and long-distance wedding planning, and that they only get you more excited about your big day next May!
With love,
Sarah + Hunter
