Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
One of the strange and unfortunate consequences of the current global pandemic has been seeing downtown areas across the country transformed into ghost towns. Although we are SO looking forward to the days when Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall is bustling with restaurant-goers, shoppers, and live music again, there was one benefit we hadn’t considered until recently. Usually, the Downtown Mall is SO packed with pedestrian and auto traffic in the evenings around sunset that we’ve never felt like it was a great spot for an engagement session. We know asking our couples to pose intimately when dozens of people are eating and walking nearby won’t make for a comfortable experience. But given the relative quiet of the Mall nowadays, Krysten and Arthur were totally excited to be our guinea pigs for this new engagement session location!
And we’re so glad they were! Whether we were shooting on the mall itself, utilizing the greenery in a nearby park, or even perched atop a completely empty parking garage, we couldn’t help but find great light and dynamic urban backdrops everywhere we went! Funnily enough, we ran into Krysten and Arthur the morning after their Engagement Session while grabbing breakfast at a local bakery. We had posted a few photos to our Instagram Stories the night before (just quick snapshots we grabbed with our iPhones during the session), and Krysten had set one as her phone’s background! We’re sure that if she liked those, she’s going to LOVE the professional photos we captured even more!
We’re beyond glad that we connected with you two and were able to capture this engagement session! It was such a joy to get to know you two, even if Arthur and Hunter spent most of the evening trying not to sweat through their shirts 😂 We’re also glad that you got to use this weekend as an excuse to get out of the house and tour some of Charlottesville’s many wineries! We know that you two are going to love these images even more than the iPhone photos! We won’t end this post with a goodbye, because we’re sure this wasn’t the last time that we’ll be seeing you two!
With love,
Sarah + Hunter
