Romantic Midday Engagement Session at James Monroe’s Highland in Charlottesville

For all the non-photographers out there, evening summer storms are one of the most iconic and wonderful parts of a Virginia summer. They cool everything down, water the earth, and make for some great storm-watching. But for us photographers, they also usually force us to postpone any scheduled engagement sessions. But for Taylor and Brian, this wasn’t really an option. They had driven up from Charlotte, NC on our last available weekend evening before a busy wedding season, so Saturday was their one shot at a summer engagement session!
We are SO glad that Taylor and Brian took a chance on Saturday and were willing to dance around the weather a little bit! This was the perfect opportunity to learn so much about how Taylor and Brian can flexibly move through any situation and have fun doing it! Even though we began the session almost 5 hours before sunset (a portrait photography no-no), you’d never know it from their beautiful engagement session images from James Monroe’s Highland!
Taylor and Brian,
You two were so much fun! We are still talking about how natural you guys were in front of our cameras, and how we loved planning your night in Charlottesville with you. We just wish everyone could have seen how naturally you guys shifted into new poses in person! Whether dancing, leaning, walking or smooching, you two are clearly as comfortable with yourselves and each other as any couple could be. We already can’t wait to see you two again next summer!
