Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
For Alex and Brandon, their wedding day this past Sunday at the Lodge at Mount Ida Farm wasn’t just the first day of their new life together. It was also the first time they had seen each other in 2020, and only the second time they were together in the last 17 months! If you recognize Alex at all, it might be because we captured her sister Charlotte’s wedding in May of 2019. The last time Brandon was in the US, Charlotte was still engaged 🤯 But with Brandon stationed in Japan and Alex studying for her Ph.D. in California (not to mention COVID-19), there wasn’t exactly a ton of free time for international visits! If that weren’t crazy enough, don’t even get us started on how Brandon was supposed to land in the US six days before their wedding… which was delayed to 4… which was delayed AGAIN! He ended up landing in Richmond less than 48 hours before he and Alex’s wedding 😱
Despite all of this craziness, you never would have known any of this if you had just accidentally stumbled upon their wedding day on this perfect fall afternoon. They exchanged such intimate and personal vows during their First Look, you would have thought that they had spent every day of the last two years together. The way they danced and laughed together showed us a familiarity and comfort with each other that’s only possible with an extremely intentional long-distance relationship.
Although your wedding was maybe a bit smaller than you two initially intended, we are so glad that it still happened this past Sunday! Alex, it was so great to see you again, and this time totally in your element: side-by-side with Brandon! And Brandon, as excited as you weren’t for photos, we’re still so grateful that you were willing to go with the flow (jetlag and all) and let us do our thing on your wedding day. Plus, even you can’t pretend you weren’t having at least a little fun by the end! We wish you two nothing but joy and happiness in your marriage from here on out. Oh, and take it from a couple who dated long distance for three years before getting married: moving in together for the first time is QUITE the adventure! 😅
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
