Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
“Love is patient.” These iconic words, taken from 1 Corinthians 13, are spoken at nearly half of the weddings we photograph, amidst other descriptors of love like kindness and selflessness. Because we’ve heard this passage so often, it would have been easy to gloss over it during Katherine and Michael’s wedding ceremony. But their officiant paused and really honed in on that phrase. Just like love, Katherine and Michael had been incredibly patient the last year and a half. Originally scheduled to be wed in May of this year, Katherine and Michael were among the thousands of brides across the world whose weddings looked quite a bit different than they had initially expected.
But on their wedding day, none of that seemed to matter. During their vows, they told each other how when they first met, it was the first time they had both felt like they could truly be themselves around another person. And their wedding day was so incredibly true to them. They were married at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA, a church that Katherine’s great grandmother had helped found more than 100 years ago. That classic church wedding was juxtaposed with their trendy reception at Art Works, a Richmond art gallery! The mix of portraits that we captured last weekend — half of them before the ceremony at the church and the other half in an urban, downtown, sunset environment — showcased that dichotomy so well!
The joy that Sarah saw in your eyes, Katherine, when you realized that the next thing on the schedule was the First Look told her everything we needed to know about you two. Your excitement at seeing Michael — someone you’ve seen almost every day for the past several years — is an excitement that we hope never fades. You two were so full of joy to just be with each other, and finally celebrating your marriage. And we know that that joy will only grow deeper and more wonderful as the years go on.
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
