Highflying Hot Air Balloon Surprise Proposal in Charlottesville, VA

“So, what do you guys do for work?” This was what Shannon had just asked us, and was basically the last question we wanted to hear from our unknowing soon-to-be-bride. Telling a woman who is about to go on a sunrise hot air balloon ride with her boyfriend that you’re professional wedding photographers is a dead giveaway for what is about to happen! We had spent weeks planning with Bhargav to set this up perfectly; we had rescheduled five or six times throughout the week due to weather! There was no way we were going to blow our cover now. So we did what anyone would do: we made something up and then Bhargav changed the subject 😂
Bhargav and Shannon are completing their medical residencies in different states. This was the ONE week that they had scheduled this fall to see each other. It was also the one week that it rained almost every single day of the week! Not to mention, Bhargav needed to have reconstructive knee surgery on Wednesday! That Saturday morning was the last opportunity for us to go up in the balloon, and it could not have been more perfect. The weather was slightly chilly, but once we got up in the sky we flew with the wind. Shannon lovingly helped Bhargav throughout the flight, although the excitement must have helped numb some of his pain! Bhargav was moving much better than you would expect from someone who had surgery only three days prior!

It was such an honor to capture such a special moment for you two. And although you (hopefully) won’t remember it when you look through the photos, we were also honored to be less than two feet away from you in a tiny balloon basket when you popped the question! We can tell how ready you two are to begin your lives together, and we hope that you never lose that spark you felt in the airport the day you first met. That spark was certainly shining brightly when you two got engaged! We hope these photos serve as a reminder of the love you have for each other and help you get through the early stages of wedding planning!
