There is *apparently* only so much one can do to prepare for an engagement session. Even after sending Shelby and Daniel our Engagement Session Style Guide, scouting the Tidal Basin area in advance, emailing back and forth for weeks over location and email, and showing up early on the morning of the session… things can go a little sideways. When we scheduled a Washington, DC sunrise session with Shelby and Daniel, we were hoping we would get some cherry blossoms – and we did! What we didn’t expect was everything else 😂 Fears of mid-pandemic overcrowding led to a lot of road closures around the Tidal Basin, so when we got in to park around 6:30 am, we assumed that that meant we were all good. Well, Shelby caught a literal snag on the way out of the house and tore her dress 😖 In the ten minutes it took for her to grab a safety pin, the park police closed down access and Shelby and Daniel had to park almost a mile away!

Their unexpected delay ended up being a blessing. Their walk warmed them up from the frigid wind and gave the sun time to rise just a little bit higher! We jumped right into their session, and Shelby and Daniel were total naturals. We aren’t sure if it was the cold that encouraged the cuddles, but we loved how much fun they were having. Some people would have been in a pretty sour mood after what Shelby and Daniel went through before the session, but their upbeat attitude told us everything we need to know about these two!

You guys are an absolute joy! We loved getting to know you guys better and learning more about how you interact with each other. You two are just so much fun and we literally cannot wait to see you again in November! We hope that the rest of your mornings as an engaged couple are far less stressful than the morning of your engagement session, although no less full of joy!
