From where I sat on the bench, I wondered how Anthony would enact the last-second changes we had just made. The morning of his double surprise proposal to Grace, we changed the location from the Lawn to a Garden in order to avoid some VERY strong gusts of wind. Then, when we arrived in Garden IX and saw the light, we changed the direction that we needed Grace to be facing for the proposal just minutes before Anthony arrived! A surprise engagement can be overwhelming on it’s own, but throw in some last minute changes and it’s a lot!

But despite all of this, Anthony was an absolute pro! He walked Grace to the path, turned to point at ~something~ to get her in place, and while her back was turned, got down on one knee! Not only that, but he planned a perfect second surprise (thus the “double surprise” proposal)! After capturing a few photos of Grace and Anthony together, Hunter and I pretended that we wanted to shoot some additional portraits in Garden III. But when we entered the garden, all four of their parents were waiting to celebrate with them — champagne and all! Everyone kept this secret, and Grace was completely surprised for the second time that afternoon.

It’s not often that we get to meet our couples’ parents during a surprise proposal, so we wanted to thank you again for inviting us into such an intimate and joyous day.
