On Friday night, Jillian’s sister Casie emailed us with an idea. She asked if there would be a good time to work in a surprise for Jillian and Nate! The surprise: a butterfly release in honor of their late grandmother. Knowing how special this would be to their family, we chose to do the release during family photos. After the last family photo was taken, Casie ran off to grab a box. She brought it over to Jillian. And it sure was a surprise! As the butterflies flew out, it took a minute for Jillian to fully take in what was happening!

Once the butterflies were released, something unexpected happened: one butterfly chose to hang around for a while. The whole wedding party came to refer to the butterfly as “Grandma”! This butterfly stayed on Jillian’s bouquet all through the wedding party portraits, and through much of the evening. It truly was special tribute to a lost loved one!
