Since picking up our first camera more than a decade ago, we’ve had a gift for making others feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera. We deliver incredible images, but more importantly we give our couples an incredible experience by educating and empowering them every step of the way.
We're Hunter & Sarah
We’ve been married since 2017, but have been together for more than a decade. The only thing more important to us than making new friends and our weekly date night is our faith! We’re based in the Charlottesville, VA area but are willing to travel wherever our clients take us.

Sarah first got into photography because Hunter dragged her along to sessions. He taught her the basics, and threw her into the bridal suite on her first wedding day... where she fell in love with capturing genuine moments! Now, Hunter swears she's the better photographer of the duo.

She’s been known to crush a sitcom on Netflix in record time.
Sarah's unique eye for genuine interactions and candid moments allows her to capture even the smallest memories throughout a wedding day. Not to mention all the beautiful details!
Sarah Sheldon
Hunter first picked up photography in high school, and continued photographing through his time in college. Although he never expected it would be his career one day, after booking their first wedding in 2015 - he was hooked! The rest, as they say, is history.

Hunter loves photographing the most intimate moments, like a first look or sunset portraits. And once the party starts, you can usually find him in the thick of the dance floor, shooting away!

Our Faith
Our faith in Jesus and his Church is central to our life, and therefore is reflected in everything we do, including how we run our business. That does not, however, mean that we treat people of other faiths or beliefs any differently.
Inclusivity
We believe all people deserve love, companionship, and care... and marriage is the best way that two people can commit those values to each other. Therefore, we support all marriages between consenting adults, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other factor.
Racial Equity
As white Americans who live in the south-eastern US, we're acutely aware of the deeply-rooted racial disparities in almost every area of American life. Our hope is that we are always working to correct these disparities, rather than advancing them.
Eco Conciousness
We have a heart for the natural environment that surrounds us and serves as the backdrop for so many of our beautiful images. We're also aware that our natural environment is greatly at risk, and strive to do everything we can to minimize our ecological impact.
Mentoring
Throughout our lives and our businesses, we've been blessed by mentorship from those who have gone before us. We feel strongly that it's our duty to steward our knowledge and gifts – both those given to us and those we've figured out on our own – to those who come after us.
Empowering Clients over Profits
We believe that strong marriages are incredibly important, so we do everything we can to educate our clients and empower them to make the best decisions for them, from the initial consultation, to the delivery of their wedding album.
Eco Conciousness
We do everything in our power to mitigate our environmental impact wherever we can, both in our business and personal life.
Mentoring
We've run the Hunter and Sarah Photography Apprenticeship Program since 2019, and coach and mentor other photographers to this day.
Empowering Clients over Profits
We over-communicate and over-educate our clients, and have, on rare occasions, turned down couples with a desire to hire us, because we saw that they would be best served by a different photography team.
Our Faith
10% of our profit goes toward advancing the gospel on college campuses.
Inclusivity
Although we aren't perfect, we try to reflect this in our portfolio, showcasing all kinds of love stories throughout our web presence as much as we are able.
Racial Equity
10% of the profit of our other business, Hunter and Sarah Properties, goes toward the nonprofit Black Women Build.
