Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Wow! What a year 2018 has been. To say that it was a whirlwind of shooting and growth for our business and our photography would be an understatement. However, we know that most of the time, you as our blog readers are only seeing what’s in front of our lenses. And trust us, most of what happens in our business is happening on on our side of things! So, here begins a new yearly tradition: the annual Behind the Scenes Blog!
In talking to our friends, we’ve figured out that what seems normal to us is probably interesting (or hilarious) to you! So, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to take a special behind-the-curtain look into our life on the other side of the camera! As we looked back on a year’s worth of behind-the-scenes photos, we noticed a few themes.
For starters, Sarah can organize a crowd with the efficiency of an elementary school teacher before recess.
Make no mistake – her small size doesn’t diminish her presence!
She also loves to get up close and personal when she helps our couples with their posing.
Like, really personal.
We’ve also noticed that Hunter has an uncanny ability to walk right into Sarah’s shots while she’s shooting.
Uncanny.
Another recurring theme is Sarah’s many different “test-shot” faces…
And apparently none of them involve smiling.
In fact, we could probably make a blog post just about her faces!
We’d also like to introduce you to the Signature Sheldon Squat.
(Patent Pending)
By the way, these are all real photos – none of these were posed if you can believe it.
Of course, we can’t forget about the slight variation, the Signature Sheldon Lunge!
At the same time that Hunter’s getting low, Sarah will do anything for a little extra height.
And we mean anything.
Even in a bridesmaid’s dress, apparently.
Although sometimes, no matter how hard we work, we just get caught laying down on the job.
And sometimes, the happy couple is just too busy to do Bride and Groom things, so we have to do all the Bride and Groom things for them! Like show up to their first look…
Or walk down their aisle… or make their grand exit…
Or even sign their marriage license! (No one tell the state of Georgia)
And sometimes, we get to be a bit more than photographers to love and serve our couples on their wedding day. If there’s a wardrobe issue, we’re right there to help our couples straighten things out.
Or even hold their jackets when they get too hot or too cold.
Sarah has learned to be every bride’s best friend on their wedding day. She’ll even wipe cake off your face if your groom gets a little crazy after the cake cutting.
And Hunter has learned to hang dresses, drape veils, and fluff trains like he never imagined he would!
You might even convince us to hold your slobbery dog toy to get your pup’s attention, or even carry your wedding cake out of the kitchen!
Of course, we wouldn’t have things any other way. After all, look how many #SheldonSandwhiches we got to make this year!
Sometimes, we even get our own photos taken!
But no matter what, we LOVE our job. Serving couples during their proposals…
During their engagement…
And on the happiest day of their lives.
We know that we are truly blessed. Happy New Year everyone!
