Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.

Maggie and Cece’s Wharf DC engagement session brought their love story right back to where it all began. These two (allegedly) first met years ago, while Maggie was wearing a boot after foot surgery. Months later, long after she ditched the boot, they met again, and Cece asked where the boot had gone. That simple question sparked a conversation, and the rest is history! Their first date took place at the Wharf in Washington, D.C., including a stop at Boardwalk Arcade and Bar. So naturally, we had to return for their engagement session! We started at Boardwalk, where they grabbed drinks and played their go-to games, including skeeball, basketball, and a quick round of Mario Kart. Somehow their competativeness was perfectly balanced with their laughter and affection. Whatever we were doing, Cece always seemed to find her way into Maggie’s arms in a way that seemed like home for them both.
After the arcade, we wandered down the Wharf along the waterfront as the sun began to set. The canal views gave us a beautiful backdrop, but the best part was just watching Maggie and Cece interact. Their connection felt playful, affectionate, and completely natural. Even their engagement story came full circle at the Wharf. Maggie proposed in DC, but planned a surprise celebration with their closest friends and family back at Boardwalk. Cece knew something was up after checking Find My Friends and discovering that her parents, grandma, and closest friends were all gathered in one place! 😂 Between their favorite date-night games and the waterfront sunset, the session felt like a perfect snapshot of their life together in DC. A city like Washington, D.C. is far too complex to have just one version of an “iconic DC engagement session”. But the energy these two brought felt entirely true to them and the place they call home.
Your Wharf DC engagement session was such a joy to photograph. It was so special getting to revisit the places that have shaped your relationship, from your first date to where you celebrated your engagement. Your affection for each other made every moment feel natural and comfortable, and I loved how much fun you had simply being together. Thank you for letting us document this chapter of your story in a place that means so much to you. We cannot wait to celebrate with you both in Charlottesville this time next year!
With love,
Sarah and Hunter
