“There is one shot that I was really hoping to get, but I can see that it probably won’t be possible today…” Liesa and Patrick chose an absolutely gorgeous location for their engagement session: Raven’s Roost Overlook! the only downside of this Blue Ridge Parkway pull-off is that it’s not only breathtaking, but also incredibly easy to get to, making it extremely popular. Raven’s Roost was absolutely PACKED that night (we counted a senior session, a family session, three engagement sessions, a micro-wedding, and at least a dozen other people just watching the sunset). And at the moment that Liesa spoke the words from the start of this blog, the all-popular tree was being used by the wedding couple. As we finished up their session and began packing up our stuff to go, a miracle happened – the wedding moved away from the tree and we had a small window of opportunity to swoop in to stake our claim!

Liesa and Patrick are both over 6′ tall, so it was Hunter who rushed them over to Virginia’s most-photographed tree. Me, in all my 5’1″ glory, caught up with them just as quickly as my tiny legs could carry me 😂 As we directed them into place, the four of us worked to get all the shots that Leisa had envisioned, with time to still let others use the tree before the sun set. Despite the crowded overlook, Liesa and Patrick seemed completely un-phased by the amount of people at Raven’s Roost. Throughout the session they were laughing and cuddling as though it was just them atop this mountain!

It was so fun getting to know you both and to learn a little more about how you met at trivia night and just left all your friends there to get to know each other better 🤣 I know that we will never think of trivia nights the same way again!
