Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Mary Kate has been one of my dearest friends over the last decade. We met during orientation week, the summer before we started our freshman year of college at CNU together. We’ve been friends ever since, and lived together for our latter three years of college! On Hunter and I’s wedding day, Mary Kate stood as my Maid of Honor. That’s why I was so honored when she not only invited me to stand next to her on her wedding day, but also hired Hunter and I to photograph the big day! Although bridesmaid/photographer double-duty isn’t always easy, it felt like the best of both worlds on Mary Kate and Justin’s wedding day. I got to spend the weekend with MK (and Tess and Allister and Mariah – it was basically a college reunion) and stand by her side during the ceremony. But I also had the peace of mind that her wedding photography was in incredible hands – ours!
When things started to take a turn for the worse thanks to COVID, MK and Justin had a decision to make: elope or postpone. But they did something that none of our other 13 Spring/Summer wedding couples did. They found something in the middle! They decided early on that postponement wasn’t an option. These two had been looking forward to the start of their marriage for far too long, and didn’t want to wait another day! But thanks to their relatively late wedding date, they hoped that the restrictions would be lifted enough to allow for more than 10 guests. So they still had their wedding parties with them on the big day. They still got ready together. They still had their dearest family members nearby. Although they wouldn’t rent their venue for the evening anymore, MK’s parents had a tent put up in the back yard and convinced a food truck to stop by for a few hours! They still cut their cake and had their first dance and danced with their parents. In short, they still had their wedding day – and an absolutely STUNNING one at that! Just maybe a bit more intimate than originally planned.
MK, you’ve always been a princess in my eyes. And although you’re the kind of strong, independant princess who don’t need no man, finding your prince in Justin is still going to be a part of your happily ever after. Justin, thank you for taking care of my Mary Kate and loving her so well these last few years. It’s been a joy to watch your relationship grow, to spend time with you at Wallaby Christmas, and to watch how well you care for her (and Rosie!). Hunter and I are so happy for you two, and can’t wait to see where your marriage takes you. We know from experience that it’ll challenge you both to become even better versions of yourselves, and you’re both already pretty great! Lots of love, and we can’t wait to see you again this fall for the party!
With love,
Sarah + Hunter
