“Okay David, go ahead and touch your forehead lightly to Ellen’s. That’s perfect! Okay, now just stare lovingly into each other’s eyes. That’s it right there – just keep smiling!” Sarah and I were at James Monroe’s Highland, giving some posing instruction to Ellen and David as they stood knee-deep in the tall grass that was blowing gently in the wind. It was a beautifully cool June evening, and despite a gloomy forecast calling for thunderstorms all evening, we hadn’t felt a drop all night. Everything was going perfectly so far, which made us all the more amused when three dozen cows rushed into the other end of the field we were standing in.

 

“Uhm, Hunter…?” Sarah, of course, noticed the herd before I did. “Didn’t you say the cows were in the far field tonight?” I responded without taking the camera away from my face, still shooting Ellen and David. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure. Why?” “Well I think the gate from the far field to this field is open tonight…” David and Ellen and I all turned around as one to see more than 30 cows excitedly moseying toward us, very excited to meet their new human friends. Although we were sure they weren’t dangerous, we didn’t want to hang around long enough for them to realized we weren’t there to feed them. One ear-tagged cow was particularly eager to meet us, so much so that he’s made his way into the blog!

 

Ellen + David,

Runaway heifers and erroneous weather forecasts aside, we sincerely enjoyed getting to know you two better this past Sunday! With David’s unpredictable schedule as a marine, we’re so glad we could finally nail down a time to get together with you two! Your wedding this October is finally coming together, and we know it’s going to be an incredible day for you two and all your friends and family! We hope you won’t hesitate to reach out to us in the meantime if there’s anything we can do. And if not, we’ll see you this fall!
