It was a very crowded day at King Family Vineyard! It was the first beautiful, 75-degree Saturday of the Fall, and much of the property was dotted with families in chairs and on blankets, enjoying the wine and the mountain views. When we arrived and realized how busy it was, we were SO glad that — while we were planning with Pat for his surprise proposal at King Family Vineyards — we had planned on him proposing quite a ways away from the tasting room. This also meant that as Sarah and I milled around the field, pushing Theo in his stroller (camera hidden beneath him), we were able to spot them approaching well in advance.

What we didn’t expect was the emotions that poured forth from Khaliyah the moment Pat got down on one knee! Almost immediately, tears of joy began to flow down her cheeks. There were tender whispers of, “I love you so much” and cries of “Yes!!” They were embracing before we knew it! And after a few minutes of portraits, we seemingly said goodbye. But when Khaliyah and Pat rounded the corner and found their parents waiting for them by the tasting room, all those happy tears began to flow again. It was truly a perfect surprise proposal, followed by a second surprise with family!

We truly enjoyed getting to witness such a beautiful moment, and also getting to be a part of the family celebrations that followed! Your love and affection for each other was so vividly clear to me after the proposal, and we’re so happy for you two and everything that comes with engagement and marriage!
