So we didn’t know what to expect when Amasa and Don asked us to come to them for their downtown, coffee shop engagement session. But after we captured them sipping coffee and wandering through a couple of the cutest cobblestone streets we’ve seen in a while, we were so glad they had asked us! With the grass poking through each paver, and the glare off the water, we felt like we were in a whole other world. And Cure Coffeehouse — the coffee shop in Norfolk’s Freemason District that they wanted to start their session in — was a photographers dream! Big, beautiful windows were everywhere 😍

Hunter and I had never photographed an engagement session in Norfolk, VA before.

One of the funniest things that you don’t know is how we get those shots through the windows. There’s nothing quite like making kissy faces through a glass window at your clients since they couldn’t hear us giving instruction from outside the coffee shop! 😂 But Amasa and Don were unfazed by our antics. Despite being in a public place, these two were comfortable from the jump! We have no doubt that being in their old stomping grounds certainly helped!
