If we could describe last Monday’s engagement session with Debbie and Andrew in a single word, it would have to be elegant. Of course, one look at their session will tell you that they certainly know how to dress elegantly – they could have walked off our session and right into a charity gala without any questions asked (thanks Style Guide!). But their attitude throughout the entire process was as classy as Debbie’s gowns and Andrew’s suits. Our time together was originally scheduled for a week before the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but when a freak storm blew into Richmond and rained us out, they didn’t stress one bit.

 

And of course, the famous Japanese and Italian gardens of Maymont Park certainly didn’t exactly hurt the elegance of their images. As we explored the park with Debbie and Andrew – local Richmond experts in their own right – we found spot after spot that allowed us to perfectly combine the natural beauty of the area, man-made architectural features from across the world, and the love that Debbie and Andrew clearly share for each other. From their first bonding over Pizza more than 5 years ago to their “surprise” proposal at the top of McAfee Knob, and onto planning a Charlottesville wedding while Andrew studies medicine and Debbie prepares to do the same at VCU – they seem to have done it all together!

We’re so grateful that last month’s rainstorm didn’t stop us from getting together and capturing these wonderful images of you two! Sarah and I loved getting to hear more of your story as we explored Maymont together and captured you two dancing your way across Byrd Park at the end of our session! We know things must be crazy as you try to finish wedding planning before starting medical school this fall, but we hope that these images brighten your summer and remind you two of what all the planning is for 🙂
