When we got off our initial call with Gillet and Jon, we knew they were the perfect couple for a New Years Eve wedding. It takes just the right energy to pull off an all-night party! And as we strolled around with them during their fall downtown Charlottesville engagement photoshoot, it felt like they brought the party early! Gillet shimmied and swayed with every stop we made. They made the entire downtown mall a preview of their dance floor. Then, we learned from the passersby that we were with Charlottesville royalty. Jon knew EVERYONE! Later in the session, we stopped by the bar where they first met: the Whiskey Jar. Even though it was closed, Jon was still getting cat-calls from passing friends!

Not long after, we arrived at the Boar’s Head Resort for the second half of their session. And we were thrilled with the way the weather turned out! Having postponed their first session due to near-freezing weather, we were glad to have some sun (and even a little fall foliage). The gorgeous golden light set the perfect mood for this more private outdoor location. Learning more about their relationship, their plans for the holidays, and the stunning choice of gem for Gillet’s ring gave us perfect insight into who they are and their hearts for each other and their families. The best part about their engagement session was definitely the reminder that we get to do this all over again in just one month!

Although the part we may be most excited about is capturing Gillet when she absolutely brings the house down once she hits the dance floor… 😉
