The smoke bombs. The adorable puppy. The floral bouquet. Two elegant outfits. I should have known that if any of our brides were going to take the Engagement Session Style Guide seriously and REALLY make their session look like it was pulled straight from the pages of a bridal magazine, it would be Mary Kate. And of course, Justin is along for any ride and down for any adventure that involves his bride-to-be. We’ll tell you one thing, all these additions certainly made for an exciting session!

 

As we popped one smoke bomb after another, and everyone attempted to breathe through the acrid cloud of pink and purple, I couldn’t help but laugh to myself at how crazy the situation was. After all, Mary Kate and I had met at freshman orientation, just weeks before we would begin our time at Christopher Newport, and had been friends ever since. How funny to think that those two college freshman who barely knew each other on that day, would find themselves more than seven years later, one cuddling her fiancé in a giant cloud of purple smoke, while the other took photos of them with her husband! I don’t think we possibly could have guessed at something as strange — or as wonderful — as reality.

Hunter and I had an unbelievable time shooting with you two on Sunday evening, and are also elated that we finally got to meet Rosie! Not only was she as adorable as her Instagram promised, but she was so well behaved, both during photos and when she was sitting on the sidelines. We can’t wait to see you two again in just a few weeks at Wallaby Christmas, and are even more excited to capture your wedding day next summer!
