It’s crazy how much can change in two just two weeks. In fact, we had the joy of capturing Susannah and Divid’s joyful Spring engagement session barely 12 days ago. It feels like a lifetime ago that Hunter and I arrived at Susannah’s grandma’s private estate just outside of Charlottesville. We were immediately blown away by the beauty of the estate and our luck with blooming flowers, not to mention our excitement at finally meeting Susannah and David after seven months of emails and video chats.

 

But like we said, everything can change in just a couple weeks. When we met, we walked right up and gave them a hug. Wearing a mask out of our house didn’t cross our mind. We barely knew what social distancing was. We had no concern for crowded places (we stopped for dinner on the way home). All these things now seem unthinkable in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the precautions our communities are taking to slow it’s spread. Like we said: now, just a dozen days later, everything is different.

 

Most significantly, this wonderful couple has since had to postpone their wedding by 364 days. Our hearts have been breaking for all of our couples with these spring weddings, and especially for Susannah and David. But the craziest part in all of this? Susannah and David have handled their postponement with such grace, poise and optimism. In the email where Susannah informed us of their postponement, she literally finished with, “We love each other and we will get married!… We’re digging deep on the positivity front haha but we’re sending all the good vibes your way! We will get through this!” In crazy times like these, and with events and weddings postponing and canceling left and right, it brightens our day to get emails like that from our couples ❤

We’re so lucky to be your wedding photographers. Even if there will only be a handful of people gathered to see you two married this Spring, and the big party is more than a year away, know that we’re going to be there to capture ALL the stages of your love story, no matter what! We so enjoyed our time together earlier this month, and I think Hunter and David have a lot more talking about UVA basketball to do. If I hear him say “National Champs two years running!!” one more time I might cry 😂 You two are the best and we can’t wait to see you soon!
