Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.

Zoë and Dan’s golden summer engagement session at the Boar’s Head Resort was one of those evenings when everything seemed to glow. The September sunset lit up the fields of yellow wildflowers and the tall grass where they settled in together. Even the leaves of the trees along the pond seemed to catch the light perfectly. After eight years together, these two have plenty of history to draw from. They met at the University of Maryland and, despite both growing up in South Florida, eventually settled in Richmond. They chose Charlottesville for their engagement session and for their wedding next summer because they loved its lush greenery. And this past Saturday, the Boar’s Head delivered exactly what they were hoping for! Despite a wedding, three other portrait sessions, and even a hot air balloon launch while we were together, the chaos somehow only added to the charm of our time together.
Zoë and Dan arrived with almost no pretense for their session, which worked out perfectly. They were completely open to whatever ideas were suggested. And once they relaxed and got used to being in front of the camera, their natural connection came through beautifully. I could tell that Dan was initially slightly less than thrilled about spending an hour in front of a camera. But by the end, he was surprised by how quickly the session had gone. Their photos feel effortless, playful, and completely connected to the warm September evening around them. Dan had also just graduated this past spring from the University of Richmond School of Law, and was currently waiting on his bar results. With wedding planning underway as well, this session hopefully gave them a chance to slow down and forget all that, and simply enjoy being engaged.
Your golden summer engagement session was such a beautiful evening to spend together. Thank you for being willing to trust my lead, and follow wherever the session took us. The results are a collection of images that feel natural, warm, and completely you. After eight years together, there is something especially sweet about seeing the ease you have with one another. Thank you both for being so open and trusting throughout the session. We cannot wait to do this all again next summer!
With love,
Sarah and Hunter
