Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
When we first sat down with Lisande and Mike almost a year ago, we had no idea what they meant when they said they were having a “Harry Potter-themed wedding”. As with most people who grew up in the late-90s and early-00s, we know Harry Potter as well as your average millennials. Sarah and I had read the books when we were kids, and had fond memories of HP marathons on ABC Family when we were kids. But when it came to themed-weddings, we didn’t know if we should expect some subtle and barely-noticeable nods to their favorite fantasy series, or if they’d be wearing black house robes down the aisle and cutting their cake with the sword of Gryffindor (not that that wouldn’t have been awesome).
As it turned out, Lisande and Mikes wedding day was the perfect balance of their favorite novel series and a classic American wedding. The details were not only done in an incredibly classy way, but they were almost entirely homemade! Lisande and two friends had made hundreds of “butterbeer” and “written in the stars” cupcakes the week before the wedding. They had borrowed hardcover copies of the later four novels from local libraries to incorporate into their centerpieces. Our favorite touch? Over 200 chocolate frogs that Lisande’s cousin and bridesmaid Leigh had made by hand the week before the wedding. Add in the groom and groomsmen’s bowties, custom made to display each house, along with the Marauder’s Map for the best man and the deathly hallows for Mike, and you had the makings for the classiest wizarding wedding we had ever seen!
Despite all these details, the most magical part of the entire day was the two of you! We’ve loved getting to know you two better throughout the wedding-planning process, and especially during your engagement session in Richmond earlier this summer! From your expertly choreographed first dance to the genuine tears shed during the best man and maid of honor speeches, we saw your personalities shine through every aspect of your wedding day. We’re also beyond excited to deliver what we know was the most important photo of the day for you two, what Sarah and I are now calling the “Magic Shot”! Now that you’re practically next-door neighbors with my parents, we’re sure we’ll be seeing you two around Richmond 🙂
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
