High School Senior Session on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall

As we walked up to Briana on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall in the early hours of a Friday morning, she was talking on her phone. She spotted us walking up and we could hear her say, “Oh don’t worry Mom. They look totally normal! Bye!” We all shared a laugh over that before we even introduced ourselves, totally understanding where she was coming from. As a high school student finishing up her senior year while her family had already moved over 1,000 miles away, she was probably used to doing things on her own that most girls her age did with their parents. But she was confident and cool that morning, sipping on her americano and ready for her close up!
Briana and I really hit it off – we become fast friends and at some points, I felt like Hunter was gently reminding us that we were there to shoot, and not just get to know each other! We bonded over being multiple-sport athletes, although my soccer and cross country career paled in comparison to her ability to keep up with a resurging tennis team, basketball, softball and even the stage crew in her high school’s theatre productions! Talk about doing it all and then some!

We are so glad that your mom reached out to us last month about capturing your senior session. We are absolutely thrilled with your photos – we feel like they not only capture your favorite interests and hobbies, but also your joyous personality! But we’re also grateful to have met you and spent the morning together. We traveled across almost the entire Downtown Mall, and captured some incredible photos of you at each place we stopped. After spending only a couple hours together, we know you’re going to (in Hunter’s words) “absolutely crush it” during your senior year, and in whatever life beyond high school holds! Best of luck with college apps and the remainder of your senior year!
