When we first turned onto the driveway of House Mountain Inn and Irvine Estate in Lexington, VA, Hunter and I were a bit worried. We had been driving for almost 10 minutes since we last had cell service, and in front of us was a (somewhat sketchy) gravel driveway. Without service, we’d be in trouble if we didn’t end up at the right spot for Taylor and Brian’s engagement session. But thankfully, our GPS did not fail us (this time), and we soon emerged from the treeline to stunning views of the surrounding Shenandoah Mountains. And just a few minutes later, Taylor and Brian arrived!

 

As we walked around the estate and placed Taylor and Brian in front of beautiful mountain backdrop after beautiful mountain backdrop, we got to hear more about their vision for their wedding day. Just like Hunter and I, the Outer Banks of North Carolina holds a special place in their hearts, and even before the COVID-19 Pandemic began making intimate weddings and elopements the norm, they had been considering a small wedding day. So now, a barefoot wedding on the shores of the Outer Banks is likely in their future, and we couldn’t be more excited for them!

We’re so glad we got to finally meet you two in person and capture these wonderful images! It was great getting to know you two a bit better, and joking about a few of our Williamsburg connections. What a small world that Brian now works just a mile or two away from the house that Hunter grew up in! No matter how long your engagement ends up being, we hope that these images are a constant reminder of the love you two share, and the reason behind all the wedding planning! And we hope this wasn’t the last time our paths cross ❤
