Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
“He just had emergency dental surgery two hours ago. He’s actually on his way from Newport News now.” Those were some of the first words we heard from Benjamin on the day of his wedding, barely 90 minutes before he and Jessica would say “I do”. Apparently, as if being a three year old on your dad’s wedding day wasn’t hard enough, Ben’s son Keats had also had emergency dental surgery that morning, and hadn’t even made it back from the dentist yet. He was supposed to be one of daddy’s groomsmen and their ring-bearer, but it didn’t look like Keats would be doing much that evening except recovering from a tough morning.
But that didn’t stop our elementary school teacher and classics professor from celebrating the day of their wedding at the intimate Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast, which happened to be flush with bright fall foliage. Benjamin got dressed in a flash so that he and his parents could begin to re-fuel Keats (because of the surgeon’s orders, he hadn’t eaten for 12+ hours before the surgery, which had been earlier that morning)! Meanwhile, Jessica and her bridesmaids enjoyed all the fun and laughter that comes with a bride getting ready for her wedding day! Whether 200 guests or 20, some things certainly don’t change. Keats even got to be a part of his daddy’s first look, watching from nearby with his grandparents while Benjamin beheld his bride for the first time with a beautiful exclamation of excitement and admiration.
Despite the fact that your wedding day was thrown off from the start, it didn’t seem to faze either of you. Benjamin, from what Hunter tells me, you loved on Keats through what was certainly a pretty traumatic day for him, and cared for him enough to let him just hang out with Nana instead of walking down the aisle. Jessica, you let nothing get in the way of celebrating the joy of your day, all while loving on your new husband and son throughout the afternoon. We’re so grateful for having gotten to be a part of your intimate fall wedding, and wish you two the very best in the lifetime of marriage that is to come!
