It was around 3:00 this past Saturday afternoon, and Sarah and I found ourselves at King Family Vineyards, one of Charlottesville’s most popular vineyards. At a quick glance, we guessed there were more than 150 people enjoying the views and the chilled wine when Monish and Sam meandered into the field beyond the tasting room. Monish had been throwing a tennis ball to Noodles, their Maltese-Poodle mix, as an excuse to walk out into the field. However, even we didn’t expect what happened next.

 

As Monish got down on one knee and Sam’s hand covered her mouth in joyful surprise, every single person watching erupted into loud applause and cheering that didn’t stop for the entire time that Monish was on one knee! As if being proposed to wasn’t overwhelming enough, Sam also had almost two HUNDRED people cheering her on as she said yes! A few minutes later, as the applause died down and we transitioned into a mini-engagement session with the two of them, Sam just barely started to come down from the shock and excitement of it all. But her day of surprises was far from over. As we finished their session, we guided them over to the barn where we were going to “finish up their session with a few photos.” As Sam walked around the corner she was floored – yet again – to find her and Monish’s parents waiting with open arms!

We had such a wonderful time with you two this past Saturday, and enjoyed meeting your family — especially Noodles! Monish put so much thought and energy into making this entire weekend perfect for you Sam, and we know you two have such an exciting time ahead of you. There will be plenty of highs (and maybe a few lows) over the next few months as you begin to plan your wedding, but we hope that the memories of this past Saturday and our photos that documented it will help you two stay focused on what’s most important: you’re getting married!!
