Victoria and Fitz’s Martin’s Tavern engagement session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a date with two old friends. The couple met during the five years they both lived in DC, and Martin’s Tavern quickly became their go-to spot. So when they told their old DC crew they were coming back for their engagement session, everyone naturally asked what time they were meeting at Martin’s. We started the evening in the iconic “proposal booth” (iykyk). There, Victoria and Fitz snuggled together, shared a few Guinness, ate oysters, and laughed like they were on their very first date. They had traveled quite a bit to make this session happen, with additional stops in Charlotte and Charlottesville before heading home to Cleveland. Somehow, despite the busy schedule and warm August weather, they brought nothing but good energy to the evening.

After leaving Martin’s, we wandered through Georgetown and explored some of the streets that had become familiar during their years in DC. Fitz confidently insisted that he knew exactly where to find the old cobblestone streets. He led a somewhat skeptical Victoria and I around a few corners, but sure enough, there they were! Victoria and Fitz seemed completely at home as we walked through Georgetown. Fitz even stopped to joke with people passing by, adding to the relaxed energy of the evening. Their Martin’s Tavern Engagement Session felt incredibly natural because they didn’t need much direction. They simply enjoyed being together. Victoria was about to start her second year of law school in Cleveland, and the two were of course looking ahead to their wedding next year. But for this short hour, they got to return to a place that had played such an important role in their story.

I had so much fun with you two during your Martin’s Tavern engagement session! Thank you for inviting me into one of the places that helped shape your relationship. From Guinness and oysters to wandering Georgetown in search of cobblestone, every part of the evening felt completely authentic to you. I loved getting to laugh with you, explore the neighborhood, and capture the way you two naturally connect. We can’t wait to see you two again next summer to do it all again!
