Romantic Overcast Engagement Session at Barboursville Vineyards

Katie and Jon’s Barboursville Engagement Session was our very last session before Virginia went into lockdown over COVID-19. Especially in the midst of these hectic (and at times, scary) days, it’s always a comfort to be near to friends and family. And Kaitie and Jon have been dear friends of ours for years! Sarah and Jon met during their freshman orientation almost a decade ago, and we’ve gotten to walk alongside he and Katie since they met and started dating in college, bought a house together, and got engaged back in the fall of 2018! Jon stood at our wedding, and we even got to capture their surprise proposal on camera ๐
Last time we had had Kaitie and Jon in front of our cameras, Kaitie was (expectedly) a bit overwhelmed with everything going on. This time, we got to really take our time and walk them through a full engagement session experience! We explored the Barboursville ruins, the surrounding fields, and even discovered a little “hidden grove” where they nestled up to one another for these intimate photos! They broke out a blanket and basket for a faux-picnic, and danced through the willow field! It really was an afternoon to remember. Little did we know, it would be our last engagement session for quite some time!

Although we had no idea what would happen in the days and weeks since your session, we’re so glad that you were the couple we spent that last session with. You two are so easy to be around, so fun to spend time with, and compliment each other in such an unmistakable way. The home you’ve created in Newport News always feels so welcoming, and we can’t wait to visit again when things calm down. We are also SO excited for your wedding this July! You two (and your summer wedding date) have been in our prayers since this entire thing began ๐
