Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
It was pouring down rain when we arrived at The Market at Grelen’s newest wedding property – the Spotswood Lodge. This adorable farm house and cottage property was the perfect fit for Melissa and Baris’ small wedding celebration, which is exactly why they booked it this past winter! However, the weather forecast for their big day did not look promising. It had started raining that morning, and was set to continue well beyond the end of the night. When Sarah and I arrived, I wanted to begin scouting out locations inside the house – in the Lodge’s sunroom or underneath the covered porch – where we could spend Melissa and Baris’ portrait hour. Sarah, ever the optimist, insisted that we grab the umbrellas and do a quick walk-through of the entire property, “just in case it stops raining.” I think my exact words may have been something along the lines of, “let’s not waste our time”, but we did a walk-through of the estate anyway.
Well, as usual, Sarah was absolutely right (you’d think I’d have learned by now after almost two years of marriage). The moment that Melissa and Baris walked hand-in-hand from the tent where they had just said “I do” only a few minutes before, the rain stopped as if on cue. For the next hour or so, the two of them walked, danced and embraced their way across the entire Spotswood property with Sarah and I capturing every moment. Melissa, who had been brought to tears of joy during her ceremony, didn’t stop smiling for a single moment of our time together. Baris, a quiet and understated man in his own right, was as overjoyed with the way the day was going as he was surprised to find that his pocket square had been cut from a square of extra fabric on Melissa’s dress!
Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful and intimate wedding day. From your unique floral wedding gown to Baris’ cufflinks all the way to the cake that you made yourself Melissa, every aspect of the day was packed with personal and meaningful details. Although we were only able to spend a few hours with you two, your kind-hearted nature and friendly spirit left Sarah and I feeling more like friends than vendors by the end of the evening. We wish you both the best of luck as you finish medical school, and pray that your marriage is as beautiful (and at the most crucial moments – free of rain) as your wedding day!
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
