Spring Engagement Photoshoot at James Monroe’s Highland

Sarah and I pride ourselves not only on the photos that we take for our wedding and engagement couples, but also on the experience that they get when they hire us. Although we connect with each couple in a totally unique way, we know that by the end of a wedding day (and often long before then), our couples will walk away with two new friends, not just “vendors”. Of course, Alex and Timmy were no exception, although it became obvious in the first few minutes of their engagement session at James Monroe’s Highland that we were going to connect over one thing: humor. By the end of their session, it felt like Timmy and I had spent more time laughing at each other’s jokes than we did taking photos!
Along with all the joking and laughing, we also had a spectacular photoshoot. Highland is an incredible venue, both in its natural and architectural beauty, but also in the fact that they allow anyone who pays their photography fee to roam their grounds after hours! This meant that Alex and Timmy and Sarah and I had the place completely to ourselves. This, combined with the deep overcast that covered the sky this past Sunday evening, allowed us to explore some new areas and adventure alongside Alex and Timmy. Plus, it was the first shoot of the year that either of us or our clients had been able to wear short sleeves! Yay spring!
