Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. Weβre also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Amasa and Don’s late-September Wedding at Lovingston Winery was anything but ordinary. The day itself started off like most wedding days. Amasa and Don spent the morning getting ready with their closest friends, shared an intimate First Look, then spent some time taking portraits with each other, their wedding party, and their family. But as we lined up for the ceremony, there it was. Thunder. At first, it was off in the distance. But then… a bit closer. It was go time! Maybe if we started the ceremony a few minutes early, we could beat the rain? Well… it turned out… not so much! π When the skies opened up mid-Ceremony, everyone sprinted into the main house where Amasa had spent the morning with her girls. Sarah and I were worried: how would Amasa and Don handle this interruption?! Would they let it ruin their wedding day?!
Thankfully, the answer to our question was: not at all! Amasa and Don shrugged off the rain with a laugh. And they kept laughing when the venue completely lost power (and running water)! After all, no one was hurt, and what could you do?! When the rain let up about 30 minutes later, we all picked right back up where we had left off with their wedding ceremony. And when the rain started up again, everyone broke out umbrellas and continued on. The rest of the evening, whether standing outside during a break in the rain or sheltering from a torrential downpour, Amasa and Don truly enjoyed every minute of their wedding day. Their friends were surrounding them, they were married… oh and the caterers were cooking dinner on a gas grill! Sure, losing power wasn’t ideal. But they weren’t going to let anything rain on their moods that day! π
We are so impressed with you two! When the power went out during your Wedding at Lovingston Winery, it could’ve ruined your day. But instead, you two chose to focus on what was most important, and just kept the party going! It was so clear on September 28th that you two truly were focused on each other and your love, not on the “perfect” wedding day. That being said, it was still a total blast, and none of your guests seemed bothered by the rain! (Well, other than the ones who didn’t bring an umbrella. π ) Thank you for going with the flow, and for being such an awesome couple! We know that adaptability and keeping perspective during hard times will serve you two SO well in your marriage for decades to come!
With love,
Sarah and Hunter
