Elegant Summer Engagement Session on UVA’s Lawn and Rotunda Steps

Mary and Chip are what we like to call a “Power Couple”. Mary’s an emergency room physician at UVA hospital, and Chip works as an administrator for the same medical system. The last few months, their Summer 2020 wedding was turned completely on its head, while at the same time they worked longer and more stressful hours, each doing their part to help UVA Hospital fight COVID-19. Like many of our 2020 wedding couples, they’ve decided to still get married in 2020, no matter how many people are able to gather with them. The celebration with all their friends and family — and eating and dancing — will come next year, when things have (hopefully) returned to normal.
But just because they’ve been busy at work doesn’t mean wedding planning has stopped! Despite the fact that they just got engaged in December, had their entire wedding planned by the Spring, then had to basically plan a second wedding just a few months later, all the pieces seem to have fallen into place. And now, this past week, they could finally step away from the hospital and wedding planning for their engagement session! From their wonderfully-styled outfits (thanks Style Guide!) to Mary’s art-deco engagement ring that once belonged to Chip’s great grandmother, we can tell that this detail oriented couple doesn’t mess around when it comes to good planning!

It was so great to finally meet you two in person this past week. You two had such big smiles as you snuggled up together and (despite the heat), were a perfect picture of grace. We loved hearing about your story — from the first interaction at a work happy hour all the way to the well-planned December proposal! We’re also so grateful for people like you two, on the front lines and the support staff of the health systems that are saving lives during these crazy times. We hope that these photos will be a beacon of joy (and a bit of a hold over) until your big wedding celebration next year!
