Sunset Engagement Session at the Lodge at Mount Ida

As Greg grew up in Northern Virginia, Ashley was literally the girl next door. As far as love stories go, theirs is as pure and wholesome as they come! Ashley and Greg grew up just a few houses over from each other and had been friends since they were kids, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that they really connected, and their relationship found them both here in Charlottesville. Now, barely six months before their wedding day, their story intersected with Hunter and I as we captured their sunset engagement session at the Lodge at Mount Ida!
Speaking of their session, it was basically every photographer’s dream. The beginning of our time together featured a soft, overcast sky that left Ashley and Greg in beautifully smooth light, and complimented the blues and greys of their outfits perfectly. And as if we had special ordered it just for their session, as Ashley and Greg changed outfits half way through our time together, the sky opened up to reveal a warm sunset that complimented Ashley’s champagne dress better than any accessory ever could! We even got to work in Ashley’s love of all things equestrian when a pair of the farm’s clydesdales trotted right up to us during the session!

We’re so grateful that we were able to work out a time for the four of us to get together for your engagement session! The way you two laughed along with every pose and movement was even more beautiful than the light and the weather. And the connection we made over Greg getting baptized the following day on Easter Sunday – the same day Hunter and I were getting baptized at our church – made us feel even more like kindred spirits with you two 🙂 We absolutely cannot wait to be back at Mount Ida with you two this fall – November cannot come soon enough!
