For most of our surprise proposals, Hunter and I can just sit on a bench or relax on a blanket, cameras hidden away until the moment comes. But that was not going to work for Eric and Jordyn’s summery surprise engagement at Waterperry Farm last week. After all, Jordyn knew who we were! And if we just happened to be hanging out at this garden that Eric just happened to bring her to… Forget it! The surprise would have been over. So we resorted to Plan B: hiding in the bushes. And we mean that literally!

For almost 15 minutes, Hunter and I crouched in separate bushes, waiting to hear the sound of Eric and Jordyn’s footsteps in the garden. When they finally took their position in front of the reflecting pool, we were ready to spring into action! We jumped up and captured Jordyn’s shock and joy at the proposal. And we even captured the moment where she realized, “Wait a minute! Is that Hunter and Sarah over there?!” Those images — and the ones we captured afterwards in a brief engagement mini-session — were so much fun. Jordyn was still shook from the surprise of the proposal, but Eric was finally feeling calm for the first time in days!

Your surprise engagement at Waterperry Farm last week was one of our favorites of the year, as it’s always more special to photograph our friends! And not only that, but we feel privileged to have known you two throughout your relationship, and hope to continue to walk alongside you guys through engagement and into marriage!
