They say first impressions tell you a lot about a person. Well, Austin’s inquiry on our website told me a lot about him. In his very first message to us, he wrote literal paragraphs about his and his girlfriend’s relationship, about how they graduated from UVA two years ago, and about how he planned to propose at the same spot he asked her to be his girlfriend while they were still students. His inquiry – along with the two weeks that followed full of back-and-forth communication – told me that he cared a lot for Katrina, that he was a detail-oriented guy, and that he was good at planning surprises.

When the moment came for him to get down on one knee, we could see how overwhelmed with emotion Katrina was. And in the moments (and photos) that followed, Katrina’s face was radiant with excitement. She looked at Austin – this man who just asked her to be his one-and-only for the rest of his life – and we could see visions of their life together in her eyes.

Sarah and I feel so lucky to have been a part of such a beautiful moment between you two. A proposal is one of the rare trajectory-shifting moments in our lives, and yesterday you took one of the most important step (though certainly not the first!) on the road toward marriage. Your jubilance and emotion over this big step in your relationship is practically emanating from the photos, and we had such a good time getting to know you during the shoot. We look forward to seeing you both again soon!
