Surprise Proposal on The University of Virginia’s Lawn

The Lawn was fairly busy this Saturday morning as Sarah and I took up our pre-arranged positions. We Saw Chirag and Pallu approaching the Rotunda from the opposite side of the Lawn, and we knew it was go time. Chirag walked her over to the spot we had suggested, took both of Pallu’s hands in his, said a few sweet words, got down on one knee, and pulled out a ring! Her eyes lit up as she exclaimed yes, yes! Seconds later they were embracing as Chirag literally swept her off her feet in excitement. Pallu’s boots had barely touched the ground before her sister and brother-in-law emerged from their hiding place behind a column, having captured the proposal on video for their family. Applause broke out from every single person on the Lawn that morning!
Literally months in the making, Chirag and Hunter had been laying plans for this day since August! Lucky for him, he reached out to Hunter while he was in the middle of writing “A Guy’s Guide to Proposing Well” (HERE), so planning the perfect proposal was at the forefront of his mind! The big ask went off without a hitch, and the engagement mini-session that followed was a blur of laughter and excitement and joy – and lots of stories about how everything came together.

You two have such a wonderful story! You’ve been friends since your first year at UVA, and although it took two years (in Chirag’s words) “to work up the courage to finally ask you out”, we can tell that it was worth the wait for you two. Now, nine years after you first met, you two are officially on the road to marriage! Pallu, your man has been meticulously laying the groundwork for this weekend for so long, and we’re so glad that he, once again, worked up the courage to ask you a big question. It was such a pleasure working with you two, and we hope you two stay in touch!
