Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Christy and Matt had just finished Law School. Literally, not six hours earlier, these soon-to-be-attorneys had walked out of their last final exam at the University of Virginia’s prestigious School of Law, and their three years were done. Although Christy was surely elated and relieved to be finished with her exams, if she’s anything like Sarah and I, we’re guessing she couldn’t help but worry a little bit about what was ahead. Studying for two different Bar exams in two different states, followed by a year of long-distance dating was sure to be difficult. Her and Matt had a great relationship! But there was no ring on her finger, and it was hard to be certain about anything in the future…
Matt, on the other hand, probably had some very different thoughts on his mind. He had taken our advice and made a 7:30 pm reservation at a local restaurant, but then told Christy their dinner was at 6:30 to get her all dressed up. Now, he just had to get her back to the Law School at 6:15 pm without her getting suspicious. As the photos show, everything went according to plan! When Matt got down on one knee, Christy was overwhelmed with joy as even her relief at finishing law school was overcome by an even greater joy. They were engaged! They would be getting married!! As if things couldn’t get any better, a few of their professors who had been celebrating at the Law School Reunion just a few steps away had witnessed the entire thing, and brought them over a couple of drinks to celebrate!
Although we barely got to spend an hour with you two last week, we know that you two shouldn’t worry one bit about what’s ahead. Take it from a couple that survived four years of long-distance dating — we saw the way you two looked at each other and interacted after the proposal — you’re going to be fine! Your lives are about to get a whole lot more complicated (we imagine planning a wedding and studying for the bar won’t be easy after all), but it’ll also get a whole lot more fun. Marriage has been one of the greatest blessings of Sarah and I’s lives thus far, and we know it’ll be the same for you two! We hope that you two enjoy this season of engagement, and that these photos are a blessing to you and your relationship 🙂
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
