For some of our surprise engagement couples, family is everything. That’s why — after Nick got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him — the surprises were far from over. As always, we wandered around the beautiful property capturing a few posed engagement photos of them after the proposal. Then, we said goodbye to the two of them. Or at least… that’s what Ashley thought! But this wasn’t just any Barboursville engagement, this was a surprise proposal with family waiting around the corner!

We quickly drove up to the Barboursville Tasting Room and got the family ready. Nick and Ashley were only a few minutes behind us. Ashley hadn’t even gotten the door to the tasting room open before she was in tears! She ran right in and embraced her mom. Then, she and Nick took turns tearfully hugging each and every person present. And throughout it all — from the proposal to the portraits to the family surprise — Ashley just couldn’t believe what was on her left hand.
