It’s one of his favorite haunts, so he convinced Keirstin that it should be a part of their wedding experience. But in addition to doing what many of our couples do — engaging the Fitzroy for their wedding’s after party — Shiv and Keirstin elected for a Fitzroy bar engagement session, too! This wasn’t our first engagement session inside a bar. But it was the first time we were photographed in a bar with the entire place to ourselves! We could tell that, despite some nerves, having the place to themselves really helped Keirstin and Shiv feel more at east. If we asked them to snuggle up in a corner booth, or share a kiss over their espresso martini and old fashioned, they didn’t feel like the a bar full of people was watching them.

Apparently, Shiv is no stranger to The Fitzroy, a popular bar on Charlottesville’s Downtown pedestrian mall.

Once we finished up at the Fitzroy, we made our way over to the Boar’s Head Resort to make sure their their engagement session also took full advantage of the beautiful fall foliage and golden-hour light! Equipped with their second outfit, we were able to have a more casual experience, guiding them into more genuine interactions as they held hands and explored the resort’s grounds. We were able to incorporate some elements that were special to them, like the swing! But we were also able to do some things that were totally new, like running through a field holding hands and laughing at each other! It was a blast of an evening, and we hope it won’t be our last time combining engagement photos at a bar and a beautiful outdoor location.
