Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
In 2019, Sarah and I posted over 130 blogs, posting two or often three times per week, every single week. While those 130+ blogs represent a TON of time and energy, we know that the content we produce for our couples and our readers is actually being read! By our best estimates, we had just around 20,000 views on our blog in 2019!
While every couple that we blog about is special to us in their own way, the numbers tell their own story of what YOU thought were our most popular blogs of 2019. So without further ado, here’s the list, ordered with our most-viewed blog in the #1 position! And of course, you can click the title of any of these Top-10 Blogs to read the entire post for yourself!
#10 – Julia + Aaron’s Urban Fall Wedding in Downtown Charlottesville
Julia and Aaron’s wedding was one of the few urban weddings we shot this entire year, but boy did we have a good time with them! Julia and Aaron are dear friends of ours from church who moved clear across the country last Spring. So seeing them again for their October wedding on the Downtown Mall was special for so many reasons!
#9 – Sarah + Tim’s Classic Joyful Wedding at Rose Hill Manor in Northern Virginia
After flying all the way to San Diego for their engagement session (that blog missed the top 10 by just a few spots), Sarah and Tim felt like family by the time we arrived at their getting ready suite the morning of their wedding. Despite the fact that we had just shot a wedding the day before (a Harry Potter-themed wedding, which also missed the Top 10 by just a couple spots) their wedding day gave us so much joy and life as we captured it!
#8 – Four Reasons Why We Love UVA Graduation Photoshoots
Okay, this one is sorta cheating since we actually wrote this blog back in 2018, but due to our spring graduation campaign that absolutely EXPLODED this past May, this blog still made it into 2019’s top 10. In 2019, we had the opportunity to capture over 50 graduation portrait sessions, featuring more than 150 members of UVA’s graduating class!
#7 – Jenna + Blaine’s Joyful Wedding Day at Crooked River Farm
You may recognize Jenna and Blaine if you’ve been on our website’s homepage recently. They lucked out with one of the best fall sunsets we have ever photographed. We traveled to the south-western edge of Virginia for this wedding, but we would have flown to the moon to capture Jenna and Blaine’s big day!
#6 – Anjali + Mitch’s Sunrise Engagement Mini-Session in Charlottesville
This was the first blog we posted in 2019, so it had plenty of time to rack up views! Anjali has been a dear friend of ours for half a decade now, so when we had the change to capture a totally impromptu engagement mini-session while she was in town for the holidays, we didn’t let the cold keep us away from her and Mitch’s sunrise session!
#5 – Introducing the Engagement Session Style Guide
Our Engagement Session Style Guide is (according to countless HSP Couples) a total game-changer when it comes to feeling confident and comfortable during your engagement session. We re-released the third edition of this 40+ page magazine this fall, and the guide itself has gotten SO much love from our couples over the years!
#4 – Mary Kate + Justin’s Unreal Fall Engagement Session at the Market at Grelen
It’s no surprise to us that Mary Kate and Justin’s session from less than two months ago rocketed to the most-viewed engagement session of the year. Smoke bombs. Adorable puppies. A picnic basket full of fresh flowers. Two beautiful people madly in love. It’s just BEGGING to be a number-one hit!
#3 – Sam+ Tyler’s Summer Wedding at Walnut Hill in Raleigh, NC
Of the 20+ weddings that we shot this year, Sam and Tyler’s Raleigh wedding was the only one that brought us outside of Virginia. This late-summer wedding was not only a load of fun, but the details really made their images (and therefore, their blog) shine!
#2 – Best Engagement Session Locations in Charlottesville, VA
For years we had been sending an email to our clients while we’re planning their engagement session with our 8 favorite locations in the Charlottesville area for engagement sessions. This summer, we finally turned that list into a full-fledge blog and released it to the world! Apparently, our couples aren’t the only ones looking to us for advice!
#1 – Kaitlin + Jack’s Bright Northern Virginia Wedding at the Inn at Vint Hill
Finally, topping the list with almost 500 views is Kaitlin and Jack’s wedding from this past May. At 13 hours (plus 3 hours of travel each way), this was by far our longest shoot of the year, but it was clearly worth every minute! Kaitlin and Jack are absolute gems of human beings, and they sure knew how to throw a beautiful (and fun!!) party!
