Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
As the doors at the back of the sanctuary swung open and Julia and her Dad began making their way down the aisle, the guests all stood to their feet. As expected, my view of Julia was suddenly blocked from my vantage point (Sarah was at the end of the aisle capturing her walk, so (as planned) I swung around to shoot Aaron’s reaction as he saw his soon-to-be wife approaching from the other side of the Haven Church. What I saw shocked me. He was weeping. Not just a single tear glistening down the side of his face, but an overwhelmed-with-emotion-trying-to-hold-it-together kind of cry. It was beautiful — yet another expression of Aaron’s profound love for his bride.
And the best part? We had spent the last three hours or so with Julia and Aaron together! As we so often have the joy of doing, we had captured a first look earlier that morning, then spent some time with Julia and Aaron on the downtown mall as they bravely danced, laughed and kissed in front of dozens of strangers. We had done wedding party photos and family photos before the ceremony as well, so the newlyweds could maximize their time spent enjoying their guests after the ceremony. But that didn’t stop Aaron from breaking down as Julia walked down the aisle, nor did it stop Julia from smiling ear-to-ear as she saw her man waiting for her on stage.
Although we’ve gotten to work with couples from proposal through their wedding day before, it’s rare for us to actually get to walk alongside one of our wedding couples — as dear friends — from the very first days of their relationship until their wedding day (and beyond). As you expressed in your vows, this Saturday was both a culminating event, and the very first step. It was the final day of a journey of two people that began in a coffee shop, bonding over good music and youth ministry, and ended on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. But it’s the beginning of a whole new journey, one that will bring you to Minnesota, and only God knows where else. We wish you the best of luck on this new journey, and hope that we get to cross paths a few times along the way.
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
