Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
Very few people ever wish for rain on their wedding day, but a beach wedding can especially make rain problematic. And portraits on the beach starting at 8:30 in the morning when the church doesn’t open until 10:00 am makes rain REALLY problematic. That’s why Alex and Timmy (and Sarah and I) were sweating the 60% chance of rain this past Saturday morning that had been in the forecast for weeks. But we held out hope, said a LOT of prayers, and we woke up Saturday morning to a beautiful, soft, overcast sky – along with high temperatures in the upper-70s… in AUGUST! All the worrying turned out to be in vein, because we couldn’t have asked for a better day for a beach wedding.
Because of their unique schedule, we did something we had never done before: started a wedding day very first thing with our couple’s first look. It. Was. Awesome! Alex and Timmy had gotten ready separately, and met first thing in the morning on the Virginia Beach oceanfront for a quiet and intimate moment where they were united just hours before they would be joined in the bond of marriage. And it only got better from there! After some incredible portraits of the two of them together, we got to keep the party going with their wedding party right there on the oceanfront. The rest of the day was smooth sailing (ocean pun intended). The ceremony took place at Alex’s family church, and the reception at Shifting Sands, an oceanfront venue that had plenty of room for hundreds of guests to enjoy a view of Alex smashing cake into Timmy’s face.
From our very first meeting over cupcakes to your beautiful engagement session here in Charlottesville, Sarah and I have had the most incredible time getting to know you two better. Your wedding party was a blast, your families were so cool, and the two of you — well, we just hope that these photos do justice the incredible friendship and love that you two share. We know that the wedding day was only the beginning of your life together, but we hope that these photos serve as a reminder of your love for years to come, and a reminder of the day when two officially became one.
With love,
Hunter + Sarah
