Hi, we're Hunter and Sarah, a husband-and-wife, luxury wedding photography team. We’re also educators, helping other photographers build profitable and sustainable photography businesses.
“Has anyone here ever witnessed a miracle?” These were the words that Yana’s father began the Father-of-the-Bride speech with. The wedding guests, admittedly a bit surprised by the question, looked around at each other as a few scattered hands were raised into the air. He boldly continued, “Because our daughter Yana… is a Living. Breathing. Miracle.” He then went on to tell the story of a young Ukrainian girl who had once prayed so hard and for so long that a family would one day adopt her. He told of a call from God for he and his wife to be the answer to that prayer and adopt a little girl from Ukraine. He told of how they had cared for her for nearly two decades so that they could arrive at this day: the day they would give her away in marriage.
Yana’s Father gave one of the most emotional and heartfelt speeches that we had ever heard at a wedding. But if we had to categorize Yana and Spencer’s big day in a single word, emotional actually wouldn’t be it. We think exuberant would actually be a much better fit! From the moment we arrived, the entire bridal party was alive with enthusiasm. Their demeanor infused the whole day with their youthful energy – and the bride and groom were certainly no exception!
From the moment I entered the bridal suite, I could feel the excitement that radiated from Yana and her beautiful bridesmaids. Meanwhile, the groom galivanted around the Powhatan Plantation seemingly without regard. I was shocked to learn from Hunter after the ceremony that Spencer had broken his foot two weeks before the big day, but pushed through the pain to make the day perfect for his bride!
You were an incredible joy to photograph, and we loved being a part of your special day. You two have surrounded yourselves with such loving and loyal friends, and as you continue to pursue each other in marriage and surround yourselves with awesome people, your marriage will only flourish. Spencer, your willingness to sacrifice for Yana’s happiness was inspiring, and the vows you wrote to your bride left a wake of tears at the ceremony. Hunter and I look forward to hearing how your hearts for each other continue to grow throughout your many years together 🙂
With love,
Sarah + Hunter
